

Senior Estimator
Location: 10005 Enterprise Way SE, Calgary, AB
Hours: Full‑time, Monday–Friday (40 hrs/week)
Compensation: $80,000-$110,000(commensurate with experience)
Reports to: General Manager
Start Date: May 2026
About the Role
As a Senior Estimator, you will play a critical role in preparing accurate, competitive cost estimates for structural steel tenders. You will review and interpret bid documents, develop conceptual budgets, and produce detailed design‑build and hard‑bid estimates. Your work directly supports informed bid/no‑bid decisions and contributes to Glenmore’s overall estimating strategy and project success.

Key Responsibilities
We are seeking an experienced estimator with a strong background in structural steel or construction. Reporting to the General Manager, the Senior Estimator will:

Review tender requests and coordinate with Senior Management on bid/no‑bid decisions

Notify applicable subtrades (e.g., joist supply, deck install) to ensure complete bid coverage

Schedule and coordinate quote start‑up and close‑out meetings
-
Review project specifications and identify scope deviations

Prepare detailed quantity takeoffs and cost estimates in accordance with company procedures

Obtain pricing for materials and special‑order items
-
Consult with drafting, shop, and field teams to validate assumptions and constructability

Prepare and submit quote letters, bid forms, and pre‑qualification documents

Prepare and submit tender RFIs within required timelines
-
Support continuous improvement of estimating systems and processes

Maintain awareness of market trends, vendor activity, and competitor pricing

Follow up on submitted quotes and maintain the master quote log

Participate in pre‑award and award meetings

Set up awarded projects and lead handoff meetings to ensure clear transfer of scope and assumptions

Support active projects by pricing change orders

Capture and apply lessons learned to improve future estimating accuracy
Required Skills & Qualifications

Minimum 3 years of structural steel estimating experience or 5 years in the construction industry

Proficiency with Bluebeam and Microsoft Excel

Strong ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost reports

Solid understanding of construction processes and applicable building codes

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Strong time management, organization, and problem‑solving abilities

High attention to detail and accuracy

Effective negotiation skills with vendors, subtrades, and clients
